My "calling" in life has been social work, teaching, parenting, and helping people to help themselves.  I have extensive experience working with substance abusing criminal offenders and court-involved and mandated clients.  My professional accomplishments include:

   

  • Conducted Individual and Group Psychotherapy sessions

  • Served as an Emergency Room Psychiatric Evaluator

  • developed, standardized, implemented, and institutionalized adult and juvenile drug court programs in New Jersey. 

  • Coordinated a statewide substance abuse evaluation and referral program (TASC) by organizing and monitoring the activities of substance abuse evaluators situated in 21 Superior Courts in New Jersey.

  • Designed, planned, and coordinated the statewide implementation of the New Jersey Judiciary’s Veterans Assistance Project.

  • Monitored statewide the Sexually Violent Predator (SVPs) program.

  • Provided advisement and coordination of New Jersey Supreme Court’s Minority Concerns subcommittee tasked with monitoring fair and equal accessibility to court services by minority criminal defendants. 

  • Planned and conducted group and individual counseling sessions to prevent relapse among drug court participants.

  • Designed and supervised treatment and goal oriented case plans for identified offenders.

  • Assisted individuals in identifying their substance abuse issues and monitored their recovery process.

  • Effectively employed the DSM, the Addictions Severity Index (ASI), and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) placement criteria to identify and articulate specific problems and needs for at‑risk individuals.

  • Identified early warning cues indicative of recidivism and provided immediate re‑evaluation and referral.

  • Conducted group and individual counseling sessions.

  • Mentored new faculty members and coached faculty members who were placed on probationary-status.

  • Developed interview outlines and participated in the hiring and supervision of judiciary staff.

  • Provided personnel and human resource guidance information to judiciary employees and drafted classification guidelines and title descriptions.

  • Served as Rutgers University Part Time Lecturer – College of Social Work and the Addiction Counselors Training Program (ACT).

  • Served as University of Phoenix Campus Faculty Assessment Liaison (CFAL) – 2014 to present - College of Social Sciences – Behavior Health and Human Services, Psychology, and Criminal Justice and Security Program Assessment Project.

  • Served as University of Phoenix Lead Faculty – Faculty Development and Coaching.

  • Served as the University of Phoenix Lead Faculty Area Chair for the College of Social Sciences - Human Services and Psychology.

  • Designed curriculum and instructed college courses in social work, counseling, human services, psychology, and criminal justice.

  • Created and implemented statewide standardized policies and procedures for the Veterans Assistance Project.

  • Designed, coordinated, and instructed in‑service training for substance abuse evaluators, criminal and family division staff, probation and police officers.

  • Developed and facilitated training curriculum on various criminal justice-related topics, which included diagnostic testing, assessment techniques and evaluation procedures (ASI, ASAM), professional ethics, and the criminal justice process
